The After School Program is designed to meet the needs of those parents who are unable to pick up their children at the regular dismissal time.  We provide a safe and familiar environment with adequate adult supervision, including certified teachers and teacher assistants.

The After School Program is in session on school days between 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.  On half days, the After School Program is in session from 11:00 - 5:30 p.m.  All students who attend Mater Dolorosa School are eligible to participate in the program, which is held in the cafeteria of the school.  The phone number for the After School Program is (413) 532-0031.

Activities

  • Snack time (Children are strongly encouraged to bring a snack.)

  • Outdoor activity time (weather permitting)

  • games

  • crafts

  • videos

Independent homework and reading time will also be made available to students.

Fees and Costs

Costs are determined each year based on time and duration of the program.  The cost for the 2006-2007 school year has been set at $3.50 per hour for after school care.

Billing

Bills are sent home bi-monthly.  Check are to be made out to Mater Dolorosa School.  The After School Program is a self-funded, non-profit program.

Participation and Registration

Each child participating needs to be registered by means of the Parent Contract.  Children may participate as necessary and "Walk-In's" are always welcome.  However, we ask that you call the office or send a note so that we will expect your children.

After School Activities

Aside from the School's After School Program, we offer students opportunities to participate in several paid activities throughout the year.  For the past several years, students may take a Self Defense class which takes place one a week and new to our school beginning April 2nd is a "Stage Play" program.  "Stage Play" is an independently funding, educational workshop that travels to schools.  It is an opportunity for students to engage in directed dramatic play designed to explore creative potential.   We are planning to add more programs to our After School Activities listings in the near future.
