Computer Lab

Students and faculty have access to a fully-equipped computer lab. The mission of the Mater Dolorosa School Computer Program is give students the skills needed to safely and proficiently use today’s technology.

Our Computer Lab received two grants from the Dioceses of Springfield. With these grants, fundraising efforts and generous contributions, students will be be beginning the 2008-2009 school in a state-of-the-art computer lab. The lab is now equipped with 18 new computers with 19" LCD monitors as well as a new school-wide Network server which will be install in mid September. These improvements along with our computer-linked Smart Board presentation whiteboard, offer students safe access to the internet, and features educational and Microsoft productivity software programs which provide the technology and classroom teacher with the means to integrate the classroom educational curriculum into today’s technology.

In the middle school grades student’s use internet research to develop Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel projects associated with classroom study (i.e. 5th grade Microsoft Word document inclusive of tables on Animal Classifications; 6th Grade PowerPoint Slideshow on Greek Gods).

Computer Lab Fundraising

Mater Dolorosa School is enrolled in a recycling program, Funding Factory, which recycles cell phones, inkjet and laser cartridges. By collecting cartridges the school earns points that can be converted into cash and equipment. Since enrolling in the program, the school has earned over $4,000. We encourage all students to participate in the program by collecting cartridges and cell phones from family and friends. If your employer does not recycle cartridges, please ask them to donate them to the school.
